30 Days of Biking

By day, Patrick Stephenson and Zachariah Schaap are your typical office workers in the creative industry.  One thing did unify them as Minneapolitans, the love of bicycling and the use of bicycling on a daily basis for all their needs.  Of course this isn’t so amazing in a city that is now the nation’s proverbial number one place for bicycling — as much as driving a car unifies drivers.

The two decided to lend support to those coming out of the bicycling closet.  Last April they started a simple Twitter hashtag #30daysofbiking which soon became a month of grassroots driven events celebrating the two-wheeled contraption.  Now with a captive following, the duo are doing it again in September which is certain to appeal to the thousands of college students descending on the metropolitan.

- Kickoff 30 Days of Biking, Round 2, in a bike ride ’round the Twin Cities!

Gather at Gold Medal Park in Downtown 5:30 pm on Wednesday, September 1st. Wheels begin turning at 6:00 pm when the ride officially embarks!

The route has been posted publicly to Google maps here, and is designed to keep the group traversing as much as possible on off-street paved bikeways in a scenic North East and Dinkytown figure-eight loop.

We’ll end in historic St. Anthony and Main district after crossing the Stone Arch Bridge. Riders are encouraged to reward themselves to food, drink and conversation at any of the St. Anthony Main.
