Radio Happy Hour

Garrison Keillor’s monopoly on antiquated live radio shows might be coming to an end. Hometown son Sam Osterhout, known for his defunct hilarious Electric Arc Radio show on MPR, has been running his own hipsterized Prairie Home Companion at New York’s eclectic Le Poisson Rouge. Radio Happy Hour delivers a similar format of energized voice actors, sound effects and witty humorous scripts. Of course with the customary drinking comes dirtier jokes from the cosmopolitan ether.
MPR’s The Current will rebroadcast Episode 8 which stars local powerhouses Tapes ‘n Tapes, Chris Koza, and Jeremy Messersmith on Sunday, June 27 at 9:00 p.m. our time. To see what the stage action looks like, watch the video of former Pedro the Lion songwriter David Bazan doing a special cover of Vic Chestnutt’s song “Flirted With You All My Life.” Known for his dark Americana influence, it was Chestnutt’s last prolific song before dying of an overdose last winter.
