Krave Pajama Party

Publicity for Twin Cities Pride events this year has been hush. The onslaught of new rhetoric pushing a marriage amendment ban is sending caution in the wind. For the LGBT community at large, a place to express without intimidation and protests have fueled a devoted underground scene. In a way the nearby Gay 90′s provides a cover, being a place where LGBTers rarely patron. Instead, they create new clubs such as LUSH in Nordeast or chose premiere upscale “straight” clubs such as Karma or epic and convert them into circuit scene paradises overnight.

Friday’s Krave event, established in 2006 by Scott Feldman and Red Richard, was billed as a “pajama party” that certainly felt more Miami than Minneapolis. Recording artist Sean Ensign sang his live HI-NRG songs and remixes that provided a fresh view of what a Minneapolis party can be. Prolific Los Angeles entertainer DJ Eddie X provided a deep House sound that throbbed organic pulses. Karma wasn’t crowded but it was full and alive, which is perhaps more than anyone can expect in a city yearning for new nightlife.
