Il Gatto First Impressions
Exposed ceilings and construction zone tape didn’t stop Twin Citians from descending upon Calhoun Square on a Friday evening. It seemed as if 1995 had suddenly returned during the Square’s prime. The open retail stores were an initially strange presence (late night shopping? just as amazing as late night eating!). The mall is not done yet with the exterior Figlio wall paneling looking ancient next to the black narrow entrance with sleek glass doors. Inside, any memory of Figlio has been delightfully erased but the initial exposure to the bar is slightly jarring and unpleasant for guests and hosts. Still, this overload of sensation is certainly better than the dull Perkins floral display of the past.
