In Our Own Backyard

The MPLS Photo Center presents “In Our Own Backyard” a traveling exhibit exposing American poverty in the 21st century. The images are haunting, a farmer against once vibrant fields, a little girl with a smile in front of her trailer home, regular men and women turned nomads in desert camps. These people are not from former President Lyndon Johnson’s “War on Poverty,” no they’re from the present and will be images likely tomorrow and next year.

The series is produced by the self-titled In Our Own Backyard which is a non-profit organization. Steve Liss is the director, an award-winning photography and contributor to Time magazine.
