Spoken word genius Michael Mlekoday reports:

The Soap Boxing Grand Slam, the biggest annual Poetry Slam in the fine city of St. Paul, is tonight at 8pm. Artists’ Quarter–408 Saint Peter St. in Downtown St. Paul. Come check it out. If you only make it to one Slam this year, this should be the one!

Y’know we love the AQ. For $5, it’s well worth your time and more.

I haven’t checked up on the Listen to MPLS podcast in a while. For shame! They had this great episode back in February that features frat boys, Navy daughters, and a feature on my buddy Ashley Gold. This girl was fiercin’ it up in the ‘burbs even before hitting the Mpls mics.

Transmissions’ DJ Jake Rudh has created his own radio station on Blip.fm. Sweet. Blip appears to be a Twitter-esque webapp that lets you post new songs to your playlist which plays automatically like Pandora. Of course most are still fuzzy in understanding the legalities of playing songs across different servers ala ex-Napster. Better check out Rudh’s transmission before it gets shorted.

Lastly, Franz Diego released his CD last night at the Dinkytowner to much acclaim. Go download last year’s EP at his website and blast it loud in the car (or iPod on the bus). We hope to get a copy of his latest and will follow up with him soon.

And we have a great video via Franz Diego’s copscantdants blog.
